Institute of Medical Sociology
The Institute of Medical Sociology at the MLU Halle-Wittenberg is a leading centre for research and teaching in the field of medical sociology and social epidemiology in Germany and provides an excellent research environment in the field of Public Health.
The Institute combines research on the description and explanation of social inequalities in health at different stages of life and across the life course with comparative research on child and adolescent health across countries and over time as well as health services research. This knowledge is applied via undergraduate and graduate teaching.
The Institute of Medical Sociology grew out of the former Section of Medical Sociology of the Institute of Medical Epidemiology, Biometry and Informatics in March 2011 with the appointment of Prof. Dr. Matthias Richter.
